Introduction to the DPQ
DOG PERSONALITY QUESTIONNAIRE

STUDY 5: DOG OWNERS RATING THE SAME DOG MORE THAN ONCE (Test-Retest Agreement)

Please use the following form whether you are rating your dog for the first time or the second time. If you are rating a dog for the second time and you have multiple dogs, please be sure to rate the same dog you rated previously. The dog's name should be provided in an e-mail you received from us. Thank you for your help!

The Animal Personality Institute's DPQ (Dog Personality Questionnaire) is a questionnaire-based tool for assessing personality in dogs. When dog owners fill out the online DPQ, they will immediately receive information about how their dog has scored on each of the personality traits assessed in the DPQ.

In the long-term, we hope that the DPQ will be of use and interest not only to dog owners, but also in a variety of applications, from collecting information about dogs who are surrendered to animal shelters to assessing the personalities of dogs who perform best in any given job (e.g., guide dog, medical alert dog), or even screening potential working dogs.

In this study, we are looking at how similarly people rate their dogs when asked to do so at two different points in time. People's ratings can differ for a number of reasons, many of which depend on the questionnaire being well-built. Therefore, we greatly appreciate your taking the time to fill out the new, 75-item form of the DPQ twice -- once now and once in a month. You can access the questionnaire through the link at the bottom of this page. We will e-mail you in a month to remind you to complete the questionnaire a second time.

If you would like to learn more about the DPQ, please visit the DPQ information and DPQ Updates pages.

Please note that all personal information you provide on the DPQ will be kept confidential, including your e-mail address if you choose to provide it. Send us a message if you have any questions or concerns (amanda@animalpersonality.org).

Please note that you must currently have at least one dog to participate.

Thank you for your interest in the DPQ.
